| MYA’s infrastructure in the dairy vertical includes: |
| |
| |
Located at villages and facilitates door-step milk collections from dairy farmers twice a day. |
Manned by MYA’s representative. |
Equipped with milk cans to consolidate milk collections. |
Equipped with testing tools to measure the quality & quantity of milk deposits. |
Sorts and grades the milk collected from dairy farmers. |
Also serves as aggregation & transaction points for Cattle Feed, AI & Vet services order taking. |

In India today, the lack of cold storage/chilling infrastructure in villages has led to most of the rural produce losing its quality by the time it reaches the processors. Additionally, it has limited the marketing option for the small scale dairy farmer. This has resulted in low prices for dairy/agri farmers. MYA has addressed this problem through its BMCs which chills the raw milk ensuring limited bacterial build-up resulting in better quality of milk for upstream processors and consequently better prices to dairy farmers. |
Milk from various MCCs is consolidated, stored and chilled at 3 degrees centigrade. |
Each BMC has an average storage capacity of 5,000 litres. |
Each BMC caters to a cluster of 15 to 20 villages. |
Chilled milk from the BMCs is then transported to processing plants on Bulk Milk Tankers. |
| |
| |
The poor transport infrastructure and paper intensive information system which currently exists in India not only contributes to errors in sorting & grading of rural produce but also contamination of the rural produce during transportation from producers to processors. This is a massive problem facing the dairy and agri sector in India.
MYA is addressing this problem by putting in place a milk transport and security system which ensures secure, traceability, timely and quality delivery of milk from the dairy farmers to the upstream processors. Although MYA does not own and invest in transport vehicles, it leases it out from entrepreneurs and manages the fleet of primary & secondary transport units through a database management & IT system. |
| |
| Primary Transport: |
| |
MYA rents the vehicles (on a per km basis) from entrepreneurs located in the villages. |
A milk-run across various villages is done twice a day to collect raw milk from villages on two-tonnage Raw Milk Vans (RMV) and dropped-off at MYA’s BMCs. |
MYA currently manages a fleet of 6 RMVs each having a capacity to transport 800 litres of milk at any given time. |
| |
| Secondary Transport: |
| |
Raw chilled milk from MYA’s BMCs is transported to Processing Plants on Bulk Milk Tankers (BMTs). |
MYA rents the BMTs (on a per km basis) from transport operators. |
MYA currently manages one BMT which has a capacity to transport 10,000 litres of raw chilled milk at any given time. |
